Black Friday is only a few weeks away. We know, the thought of waking up at 4 a.m. the day after Thanksgiving and joining thousands of crazed shoppers on long lines seems daunting. And let's not forget that tryptophan coma you'll likely be suffering from thanks to all the turkey you ingest. If you're looking for another option, that's smart thinking. After all, lots of those deals will be offered online. And, as luck would have it, some retailers just can't wait to spring the Black Friday deals on you.
Many retailers have already started offering eye-popping deals on consumer electronics—and the majority of these deals are online. The National Retail Federation reported that 42 percent of holiday shoppers did some online shopping last year. This year, the number is expected to jump significantly as well as an increase in mobile shopping.
According to a Financial Times report, "Retail analysts say this year's deals mark a significant acceleration of pre-Thanksgiving activity, as retailers try to secure an early share of holiday spending." But, that doesn't mean that US consumers will be spending like they did before the recession. The National Retail Federation said people will only be spending an average of $7 more than they did last year. That could buy you a USB cable or two.
